Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities provides the basic platform for study of core scientific subjects which are genesis of all branches of engineering. Added to this, is yet another important aspect of communication skills, which develops the students to face the placement interviews with confidence. The department is actually a launching pad for students of First year to understand the fundamental scientific concepts and later apply them in various branches of engineering.
Applied science is the application of scientific knowledge transferred into a physical environment. Applied science is important for technology development. Its use in industrial settings is usually referred to as research and development (R&D).
Engineers use their knowledge of science, mathematics, logic, economics, and appropriate experience or knowledge to find suitable solutions to a problem. Creating an appropriate mathematical model of a problem allows them to analyze it (sometimes definitively), and to test potential solutions.
The technological world we live in today demands citizens who are good problem solvers. What is the better way to achieve good problem solving skills than to study mathematics, statistics or computing! The department of Applied Sciences & Humanities is devoted to teaching quality undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It also explores convenient methods for advanced learning in science and technology. The department of Applied Sciences & Humanities includes various subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Communication Skills. At present SDBCE has highly dedicated and qualified faculty members. In our department we have five Ph. D. holders, two Ph.D. pursuing and four with an M.Phil. degree. Special classes for weak students are organized from time to time. All engineering developments are highly based on Physics and Mathematics. Hence a very strong foundation is required in these subjects.
